The President May Be Indicted
Reported by Katherine Yurica
According to a report from Capitol Hill Blue, witnesses have testified before a federal grand jury implicating President George W. Bush in the illegal and treasonous outing of a CIA operative working in an anti-terrorist operation. The witnesses testified that Mr. Bush knew about and failed to stop the release of Valerie Plame's name to syndicated columnist Robert Novak. The leak to the press was believed to have been executed by the White House to punish Plame's husband, Ambassador Joseph Wilson. Wilson caused the ire of the White House when he wrote a New York Times Op Ed piece revealing that Mr. Bush's claims that Saddam Hussein tried to purchase uranium from Niger were false.
The grand jury testimony of the witnesses has forced Mr. Bush to hire a lawyer. It is believed the president will be asked to appear for questioning before the grand jury. Although witnesses cannot take their attorneys into the hearing room, a witness can be advised before and after the session. Mr. Bush will also need outside lawyers to represent him should the grand jury indict him. According to the report, witnesses have implicated Karl Rove as well as the president.
In addition, news talk show host, Bernie Ward of KGO, San Francisco, told his radio audience early Friday that Ambassador Wilson has worked out a stunningly effective legal strategy. Wilson is awaiting the criminal indictments, and according to Ward, when they are handed down, Wilson and his wife are prepared to file a multi-million dollar lawsuit against each of the defendants in a civil action. The indicted defendants will then have to fight both civil and criminal actions. John Dean, the former Counsel to President Nixon, has pointed out that a simple civil suit filed against the Nixon reelection committee brought down Richard Nixon's presidency. The DNC used depositions, subpoenas and all the tools of discovery allowed by the law--which finally revealed the criminal and tortious acts of the president and Mr. Nixon was forced to resign or face impeachment as a result.
