The Beast, the Dragon and the False Prophet

The Unholy Trinity
The prophetic books of Daniel and Revelation foresee the end-times, our times, when human population growth reaches its limit, and social predators rise to the top, and organize to prey upon the planet. They are like vultures, stripping whatever they can, hastening the demise of life.
Similar visions have been seen by Native American prophets and Mayan prophets.
Since the modern corporation comes out of the same culture as the Bible, this will be the reference book, as we look at how prophecy applies to the political/economic situation today. Revelation describes an unholy trinity:
And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
Revelation 16:13 KJV
The beast can be interpreted as the corporation, an entity
that is legally a person, but has no soul and no human values.
The dragon can be interpreted as military might, the enforcer
and conqueror. The false prophet captures the hearts and souls
of the people, and misleads them, masquerading as pious and godly,
but actually tricking them into supporting the beast.
Revelation 13:1 KJV
The early corporations, such as the British and Dutch East India Companies, were chartered by the crowns of Europe, and sailed across the seas to conquer and plunder the Far East and the Western hemisphere. They were backed by the dragon- the Spanish Armada, the British navy. They were usually accompanied by false prophets, such as the Catholic priests who pretended to represent God and Jesus, but actually helped the conquistadors enslave the local people.
Over the past 150 years, an international elite of wealthy individuals have aggregated property by forming corporations. These, in turn, have organized an economic framework that enables them to buy and control governments. As they have extended their reach, they evolved hand in hand with the modern nation-state, preferring the fascist form of government, which gives them maximum control over the populace.
Modern day corporations control governments, and are backed by the military might of the US and Britain. These days the false prophets are in the right-wing churches that back Bush, and preach the end of life on planet earth, promising the misled sheep that they will be "raptured" a la Star Trek.
After this, in the visions of the night I saw the fourth beast, different from all the others, terrifying, horrible, and of extraordinary strength; it had great iron teeth with which it devoured and crushed, and what was left it trampled with its feet.
Daniel 7: 7-8
Think of the strip mining machines that take the tops off mountains in Appalachia. Think of clear cut forests in the Amazon, oil spills in the ocean, the devastation caused by the greed for oil in Iraq. The power behind this devouring and crushing is the corporate drive for profit.
...and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
Rev 13: 1 KJV
The heads are the corporadoes who have usurped the rights of persons for their soulless entities, the corporations. This is blasphemy, as corporations are required by law to worship money, maximize profit for their shareholders, and ignore God, in the form of human freedom and well-being, and respect for His/Her creation.
And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.Revelation 13:2 KJV
The dragon represents military might. Corporate power is always backed by the military. We see this especially today, when corporations like Halliburton and Carlyle take over many of the functions of the military, providing materiel, munitions, buildings and even mercenaries. Meanwhile the policy of a government which is owned by these corporations is based on war and conquest.
And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?Revelation 13:4 KJV
Another facet of corporate control is control of the mass media, which molds public consciousness. The mass media glorifies war, and corporations saturate the kids market with war toys and games. Meanwhile, we are taught to measure value by money and consumer goods- the vehicles we drive, the homes we own, the clothes we wear. We may go to church, but we worship money.
Revelation 13:17 KJV
Here the beast is clearly identified with commerce. Some say that the mark of the beast is the bar codes that are ubiquitous on all merchandise at checkout counters. Others say that this refers to implantable chips that we will all be required to carry soon, either under our skin or on our ID cards. In any case, we all have the mark of the beast- we buy from corporate stores, we depend on corporate gasoline for fuel and heat, we work for corporations, our health care comes through corporations, half of us depend on corporate drugs to maintain life and health.
Our worship of money is backed by churches that teach that material wealth is a mark of God's favor. People who buy into this system are rewarded with jobs in corporations, connections that help them in business, access to a network of services provided by these churches to their adherents. Meanwhile, the false prophets of the right wing churches- Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell and their ilk, preach obedience to a punitive God who regulates sexual mores and how one votes, but ignores true spiritual values like truth and loving one's neighbor.
Daniel's vision culminates in the following:
I was considering the ten horns it had, when suddenly another, a little horn, sprang out of their midst, and three of the previous horns were torn away to make room for it. This horn had eyes like a man, and a mouth that spoke arrogantly.Daniel 7: 8
Does this sound like "Bring 'em on" George? Could the arrogant little horn be the man that promises "freedom" to Iraq while he destroys it? Bush is a corporate man, through and through, and has shoved aside his father, Colin Powell, Brent Scowcroft and their ilk to fulfill his own vision of taking over the world.
The good news is, that prophecy condemns the beast to the fiery lake of public opprobrium. This is what we are seeing now.
The court was convened, and the books were opened. I watched, then, from the first of the arrogant words which the horn spoke, until the beast was slain and its body thrown into the fire to be burnt up.
Daniel 7: 11
"He gave me this explanation: 'The fourth beast is a fourth kingdom that will appear on earth. It will be different from all the other kingdoms and will devour the whole earth, trampling it down and crushing... But the court will sit, and his power will be taken away and completely destroyed forever.
Daniel 7: 25-26
The 19th chapter of the Book of Revelation describes the battle of Armageddon, with Jesus on a white horse confronting the kings of the earth and their armies, who are allied with the beast.
Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to make war against the rider on the horse and his army.
Rev 19: 19
The rider is the Prince of Peace, and his army is the international army of peacemakers, truth tellers and justice seekers.
But the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who had performed the miraculous signs on his behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped his image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. The rest of them were killed with the sword that came out of the mouth of the rider on the horse, and all the birds gorged themselves on their flesh.
