Blackwell Tells Religious Leaders to Ignore Complaints
HARTVILLE, Ohio G-O-P gubernatorial candidate J-Kenneth Blackwell is telling two evangelical churches to keep supporting him despite complaints from other pastors.
The secretary of state's comments came two days after a group of pastors complained to the Internal Revenue Service that the churches should have their tax-exempt status revoked because they are partisan.
The churches deny the allegations.
Yesterday, Blackwell told supporters of the Ohio Restoration Project to not be bullied by the pastors' complaint.
The project is led by the Reverend Russell Johnson, pastor of Fairfield Christian Church in Lancaster.
The complaint alleges Johnson's group and World Harvest Church in Columbus unfairly support Blackwell, while excluding other candidate.
