Blackwell falls farther back in poll
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Ted Strickland continues to gain in at least one poll.
A new SurveyUSA poll shows the Democratic congressman leading Republican Ohio Secretary of State J.Kenneth Blackwell 57 percent to 35 percent. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percentage points.
A SurveyUSA poll conducted in June had Strickland at 53 percent and Blackwell, 37 percent.
The new poll also shows U.S. Rep. Sherrod Brown, D-Avon, ahead of Republican U.S. Sen. Mike DeWine in the race for the U.S. Senate seat, 49 percent to 41 percent.
The poll questioned 1,000 Ohio adults between Saturday and Monday. Of the 1,000, 848 were registered voters and 503 of those were judged to be likely voters.
